Using architecture as a means of expression for cosmological—and thus religious—ideas is a fundamental decision which, in the context of Southeast Asian architectural history, shaped the design of entire cities. With the help of geometry, urban orders as well as individual buildings were designed, structural parts and decorative elements coordinated with one another in such a way that, individually and as a whole, they could represent a reflection of cosmological orders.
